Résumé |
Introduction |
Conclusion |

Introduction |
The STOPP/START version 3 comprises 190 criteria intended to support the identification of potentially inappropriate prescribing and prescribing omissions in adults aged 65 years and more. However, it does not distinguish newly introduced or substantially revised criteria from those unchanged since version 2, and a French-language version is not yet available. This article aims to address these two barriers to the use of STOPP/START version 3 by French-speaking clinicians.
Methods |
The 190 criteria of version 3 were compared with the 115 criteria of version 2 to identify those that were newly introduced or substantially modified. These criteria were subsequently presented in French using a concise wording while preserving their original meaning and intent.
Results |
Among the 133 STOPP.v3 criteria, 55 (41%) were newly introduced, 23 (17%) were substantially modified, and 55 (41%) remained unchanged (Appendix 1). Among the 57 START.v3 criteria, 24 (42%) were newly introduced, 15 (26%) were substantially modified, and 18 (32%) remained unchanged (Appendix 2). The main new criteria and the most clinically relevant modifications are discussed.
Conclusion |
This presentation of the STOPP/START v3 criteria provides clinicians with three distinct lists: newly introduced criteria, substantially modified criteria, and unchanged criteria. The two appendices were designed to facilitate the indentification and implementation of STOPP.v3 and START.v3 criteria among French-speaking clinicians, with the goal of improving drug prescribing in older adults.
