We welcome anesthesiologists to the realm of video. They can take advantage of the benefits afforded by being able to see an enlarged image with both eyes at an optimal distance, whether using the Video Macintosh System for laryngoscopy and intubation or using a video camera incorporated into or attached to the flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope for intubation, or to position a double lumen tube or other device to achieve lung isolation, or when dealing with a difficult airway. We believe the benefits are many and the disadvantages few and are confident that these systems will see more widespread use, especially as miniaturization of light sources and power supplies occurs and as progress is made with processing systems
