• | We believe that a LCBDE failure rate of 11.4% can be improved upon by the adherence to basic principles. |
• | With advanced laparoscopic skills and further techniques, we recommend LCBDE for all cases of CBD stones found at time of LC. |
• | If transcystic LCBDE fails, we advocate proceeding to laparoscopic choledochotomy rather than post-operative ERCP. |
• | Experienced surgeons at high volume centres should aim for transcystic route in over 80% of cases with failure rate under 2%. |
