Although shouting, screaming and cries are not part of the specific clinical profile in Alzheimer's disease, according to recent studies, they are one of the most recurrent manifestations in dementia. The problem is compounded by the fact that screams and shouting tend to increase with the progression of the disease and the loss of language. A psychoanalytic case study of a woman with Alzheimer's can guide our exploration of this issue. We will see how shouting and screaming have been conceptualized by other researchers. Could the model of the infant's cries provide a different perspective, in particular on the frustration experienced by individuals with dementia? What are the pitfalls of this model? How far do the 61 sessions of this clinical case study enable us to reappraise this psychic manifestation?
