Reconstruction of the chest wall requires a thorough knowledge of both the anatomy of the defect and regional tissue with potential for use in defect coverage. The combination of preoperative defect assessment with selection of a reliable reconstructive technique gives the surgeon the ability to provide stable chest wall reconstruction with preservation of form and function.
