Functional Lumen Imaging Probe Panometry - 23/05/25

Résumé |
Functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) Panometry has emerged as a valuable tool for evaluating esophageal function by measuring mechanical properties and motor patterns of the esophagus during volumetric distension. Unlike high-resolution manometry, FLIP can be performed during endoscopy, providing real-time assessment of esophageal distensibility, esophagogastric junction opening, and esophageal contractile response patterns. This review summarizes the technical aspects, standardized protocol, and interpretation of FLIP studies. Clinical applications are discussed across various esophageal disorders, including achalasia, esophageal motility disorders, and eosinophilic esophagitis, as well as its role in guiding surgical interventions and assessing treatment outcomes.
