, Fabiana Mori, MD a, Pietro Ruggieri, MD, PhD aRésumé |
Diabetic foot complications, encompassing diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO), and Charcot foot, are prevalent and debilitating conditions that often lead to infection, deformity, and limb amputation. These conditions substantially impact patient morbidity, health care costs, and quality of life. Integrating minimally invasive techniques offers promising opportunities for improved patient care, reducing the health care burden associated with diabetic foot complications. This review examines the efficacy of minimally invasive metatarsal osteotomies in preventing and treating DFUs and DFO. It explores their potential applications in Charcot foot management, providing a comprehensive overview of the current evidence supporting these techniques.
