T01-O-12 Is there a correlation between sexual experience and penile size? Preliminary results - 27/06/08
Résumé |
Introduction |
Penile size has been a great matter of debate among men and it has developed throughout history. Concerns over penile size and the consequent desire for a longer penis are in fact common issues in the male population.
In addition to this, the number of male patients seeking an andrological consultation for the “penis size”- related problems is increasing. For this reason, the evaluation of penile size and sexual experiences is the aim of our study.
Materials and methods |
As previously described in our recently published monogram (Eur Urol 2001; 39: 183-186), our analysis involved data related to penile length and circumference. Both measures referred to the flaccid and fully stretched penis’ states and were therefore compared to the normal reference range.
All patients were asked to estimate a normal penis size length and completed a structured interview, in which they were asked to give a psychosexual profile (i.e. erection, ejaculation, sexual intercourse, first girlfriends).
We evaluated the correlation between penile size and psychosexual experiences using a sample based on 84 Italian males; statistical analysis has been performed with the Spearman correlation (r Pearson) p= 0, 05.
Results |
84 men (ranged between 18 and 50 years of age) completed the interview.
We report an impressive connection between penile size and sexual experiences.
Conclusions |
These preliminary results show the importance of penile size in sexual experiences. For this reason this topic will be related to future studies based on sexual identity.
