Accurate diagnosis forms the foundation for appropriate treatment. In endodontics, clinical and radiographic examinations are used to determine the status of the dental pulp and periapical tissues. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve endodontic diagnosis. This article discusses the use of AI to detect endodontic pathologies such as periapical lesions, fractures, and other defects in teeth. It also discusses other advancements such as improved differential diagnosis based on the patient’s pain experience, Temporomandibular Joint disorders pain screener questionnaire, and rule-based scoring systems. AI applications for dental diagnosis that are currently in the market are also discussed.
