Les protocoles de vaccination concernant les valences essentielles DA₂P chez le chien (maladie de Carré [D], hépatite de Rubarth [A₂], parvovirose [P]) et leptospirose (L, ou L2, L3, L4) et RCP chez le chat (rhinotrachéite infectieuse féline [R], calicivirose féline [C], parvovirose féline [P]) et circonstancielles (infection par le virus leucémogène félin [FeLV]) ont rythmé la croissance et le lien entre propriétaire et clinique vétérinaire durant les 6 premiers mois de vie (Squires et al., 2024). Les consultations pédiatriques ont initié les protocoles de vaccination fondamentaux pour la protection de l’animal, permettant notamment de traverser la période critique vaccinale pendant laquelle le chiot ou le chaton a pu ne pas répondre à la stimulation vaccinale en lien avec la présence de l’immunité passive maternelle. La consultation pubertaire permet de clôturer cette étape fondamentale et d’instaurer une immunité forte et durable grâce aux valences essentielles dirigées contre des maladies virales qui touchent préférentiellement les jeunes chiens et chats. Cette consultation permet également d’aborder, en fonction d’une analyse du risque infectieux (Freyburger, 2021), la potentielle mise en place de vaccinations circonstancielles, dont les maladies à transmission vectorielle sont les principales représentantes.

The vaccination protocols concerning the essential valences DA₂P for dogs (distemper [D], hepatitis of Rubarth [A₂], parvovirosis [P]) and leptospirosis (L, or L2, L3, L4), as well as RCP for cats (feline infectious rhinotracheitis [R], feline calicivirus [C], feline parvovirus [P]), and incidental diseases (infection by feline leukaemia virus [FeLV]), have structured the growth and the bond between the owner and the veterinary clinic during the first six months of life (Squires et al., 2024). Pediatric consultations initiated the fundamental vaccination protocols for the animal's protection, notably allowing the puppy or kitten to pass through the critical vaccination period during which the animal may not respond to the vaccine stimulation due to the presence of passive maternal immunity. The pubertal consultation marks the end of this essential phase and establishes a strong and durable immunity thanks to the essential valences targeted against viral diseases that primarily affect young dogs and cats. This consultation also allows, depending on an analysis of infectious risk (Freyburger, 2021), the potential implementation of incidental vaccinations, among which vector-borne diseases are the main representatives.
