This article discusses the results of two studies, with the first focused on baccalaureate students and registered nurses and the second focused on associate degree nursing students, identifying their culture, care, education, and experiences. Improving the number of graduating African-American nursing students has the potential to advance workforce diversity. Minority students who graduate from nursing programs and who then seek advanced degrees to educate future nurses contribute twofold: improving diversity among nurse educators and providing minority students with more and important ethnic role models within the nursing profession.
