At the Christiana Care Health System (CCHS), novice perioperative nurses have the opportunity to make the transition from novice to advanced beginner in a supportive environment where they can build their skills under the supervision and guidance of a qualified educator and dedicated preceptors. A perioperative internship program has been tailored to meet the needs of the facility and ensures novice nurses acquire a strong didactic and clinical foundation using evidence-based practices. CCHS perioperative services have developed their own successful perioperative internship program to address the nursing shortage in its perioperative settings.
