Though laser resurfacing has proven to be very effective in reversing facial photodamage and improving acne scars, there have been many instances of unsatisfactory results because of pigmentary changes, prolonged erythema, or scarring. These problems can be avoided and, with proper technique, excellent results achieved. These steps are discussed in relation to scarring and superficial, moderate, and advanced photodamage.
