Radiographic evaluation of patients with hip pain associated with mechanical symptoms of the hip, such as clicking, snapping, and locking, has had limited success. Arthrography combined with MR imaging of the hip can now provide visualization of the articular cartilage, labrum, and capsule as well as the marrow of the femur and the acetabulum. MR arthrography combined with advances in hip arthroscopy has had a significant impact in diagnosis and treatment of these patients.
