Résumé

Thoracoabdominal injuries involve both the thoracic and abdominal cavities. This may be caused by a single missile that traverses the diaphragm or by multiple injuries involving both cavities. When one is evaluating patients with penetrating trauma, the potential for diaphragmatic involvement and organ injuries in both the thoracic and abdominal cavities must always be suspected.
