HEPATOBILIARY MALIGNANCY - 09/09/11
Résumé |
The course of chronic cholestatic liver disease is frequently complicated by the development of hepatic tumors, which is best exemplified by the risk of cholangiocarcinoma in primary sclerosing cholangitis. The development of these malignancies often obviates the potential for transplantation and hastens the patient's clinical decline. Thus, it is important to discuss this complication of cholestatic liver disease. This article reviews the malignant potential of chronic cholestatic liver disease and its management in a variety of settings relevant to the hepatologist, radiologist, oncologist, and transplant surgeon.
