Ultrasound for Cervical Length - 21/11/12

Résumé |
Cervical length can be a useful predictor of pregnancy outcomes, such as preterm birth. Transvaginal ultrasonography is a reproducible method for the evaluation of cervical length. This imaging examination is now used to assist in the triage and management of high-risk and symptomatic patients in addition to routine screening of asymptomatic pregnant women. The purpose of this article is to review the methods for cervical length measurement and discuss the implications of a short cervix. The information will be valuable in determining when to use cervical length measurement for screening and how to manage patients with a short cervix.
