Martin Buber, philosophe au XX ^e  siècle a écrit Je et Tu parmi ses nombreux livres. Alors qu’il ne cite pas le mot « soin » dans son ouvrage, il décrit indirectement ce qui le constitue. Pour lui, une vraie relation n’existe que par la rencontre entre un Je et un Tu qui se font face, par une rencontre de cœur à cœur pleine d’attention de l’un vis-à-vis de l’autre. Cette relation est rendue possible dans une société juste qui ne réduit pas l’humain à un Cela . Elle doit aussi aider chacun à rendre compte d’une relation de type spirituelle particulière avec l’Autre (le transcendant). Martin Buber avec ses mots – principes et la déclinaison de la relation théorise en quelque sorte le soin. Buber nous précise qu’en oubliant que le «  Tu  » (l’autre) est source de vie, le «  Je  » n’est plus. Le soignant qui ne verrait son prochain qu’à travers son Cela , ne devient alors plus que Cela lui-même, c’est-à-dire perd sa mission du soin.

Martin Buber, a 20th-century philosopher, wrote I and Thou among his many books. While he does not cite the word “ care ” in his work, he indirectly describes what constitutes it. For him, a true relationship only exists through the encounter between an I and a Thou who face each other, through a heart-to-heart encounter full of attention from one to the other. This relationship is made possible in a just society that does not reduce the human to an It . It must also help each person to account for a particular spiritual relationship with the Other (the transcendent). Martin Buber, with his primary-words and the declination of the relationship, theorizes care in a way. Buber tells us that by forgetting that the “ Thou ” (the other) is the source of life, the “ I ” is no more. The caregiver who would only see his neighbor through his It, then becomes nothing more than It itself, that is to say, loses his mission of care.
