Les infirmiers anesthésistes peuvent utiliser l’échographie ou les infrarouges, pour faciliter la pose de perfusions chez les patients aux abords veineux difficiles, notamment les enfants “potelés” ou les patients obèses. La mobilité de ces outils et leur disponibilité est un atout face à une difficulté d’abord vasculaire, confirmé par les médecins anesthésistes et la Société française d’anesthésie et de réanimation. La formation des Iade à cette pratique commence, pour certains, dès l’école d’infirmier anesthésiste. Mais la majorité doit s’y former dans des centres spécialisés.

Nurse anaesthetists can use ultrasound or infrared light to facilitate the insertion of perfusions in patients with difficult venous access, notably “chubby” children or obese patients. The mobility of these tools and their availability is an advantage when faced with difficult venous access, confirmed by anaesthetist doctors and the French Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (SFAR). Some anaesthetist nurses receive training in this practice while at anaesthetist nurse training school. However, the majority need to be trained in specialised centres.
