Abstract |
The first graphite intercalation compound associating lithium and another metallic element was prepared by immersing a pyrographite sample in a very pure Ca-Li liquid alloy. The so-obtained graphite-lithium-calcium ternary compound belongs to the first stage and its repeat distance reaches 776 pm. In this phase that presents a metallic brightness and a strong hardness, the charge transfer from the intercalate to the graphene layers is very high.
