Simplified technique for invaginating pancreaticogastrostomy - 08/09/21
Abstract |
Failure of pancreaticoenteric anastomos is a major cause of morbidity after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Factors that contribute to the poor outcome of this anastomosis are soft glandular texture, and small pancreatic duct diameter. Invaginating pancreatogastrostomy has been deemed superior to pancreaticojejuostomy when those risk factors are present. Nevertheless, the suture between gastric mucosa and pancreas is often a bothersome step and has a potential contaminating load to the surgical field. Herein, a simplified method for suturing the pancreatic stump into the stomach is shown, avoiding the complexity of the suture and minimizing the manipulation into the gastric lumen.
