Les hallucinations de l’enfant constituent fréquemment un sujet de débat animés. Il s’agit de symptômes fréquents en consultation de pédopsychiatrie qu’il est important de desceller rapidement. Survenant souvent dans un contexte de dissociation, anxieux ou post-traumatique, elles sont souvent résolutives sans recourir à un traitement pharmacologique. Une étiologie non psychiatrique ou psychotique doit impérativement être éliminée car son pronostic peut être réservé. Nous rapportons le cas d’un enfant de cinq ans présentant des hallucinations visuelles et auditives en exposant notre démarche diagnostique afin d’alimenter le débat autour de la limite de la psychose infantile quant aux hallucinations.

Hallucinations in children are frequently a subject of heated debate; they are common symptoms in child psychiatry consultations, which are important to define quickly. Often occurring in a context of dissociation, anxiety or post-trauma, they are often resolved without resorting to pharmacological treatment. A non-psychiatric or psychotic etiology must be ruled out because its prognosis may be guarded. We report the case of a five-year-old child presenting visual and auditory hallucinations by exposing our diagnostic approach to fuel the debate around the limit of childhood psychosis regarding hallucinations.
