Mesenteric abscess in Crohn's disease - 18/08/11
| Commentary Mesenteric abscess and extrinsic compression of the intestine is common in Crohn's disease. In an elderly person with Crohn's disease, one should consider if the abscess results from IBD or associated diverticulitis. It is unusual to witness rupture of the abscess into the bowel lumen; but regardless of whether decompression is spontaneous or iatric, it is likely to be therapeutic. Lawrence J.
