We present the case of a 49-year-old Caucasian woman exhibiting symptoms of an acute coronary syndrome while hospitalized for alcohol withdrawal. Echocardiography demonstrated an unusual pattern of left ventricular dysfunction in which all segments except the base become akinetic, known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
