In recent years, new percutaneous techniques have been developed in interventional radiology. These methods are less aggressive, cost-saving, and require shorter hospital stays than classical surgical methods. An intraosseous cyst is defined as a bony closed cavity containing fluid. It must be differentiated from ganglion cysts and subchondral cysts often observed in various arthropathies. Unicameral bone cysts (UBCs) (also called essential bone cysts or simple bone cysts) and aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are benign osteolytic lesions that weaken the bone and require surgical treatment to prevent pathologic fractures. The surgical approach to UBCs or ABCs may need to be aggressive because of their location or their extent. Their size or location may preclude excision, and recurrence of the cysts is frequent after surgery. The fluid nature of the contents of ABCs and UBCs permits intracavitary surgical or percutaneous injection.
