Since 1992, laparoscopic adrenalectomy has become a viable option for removal of adrenal pathology and is becoming preferred over the conventional open technique.7, 8, 10, 13, 15 With the conventional technique, many approaches are available, which vary according to pathology, diameter of the adrenal mass, location of the lesion, and patient morphology.25 Knowledge of anatomy is essential, as meticulous hemostasis and delicate tissue handling are necessary to make adrenal surgery a success.19 Adequate work-up and localization of the pathology and confirmation of the diagnosis by endocrinologists are critical.
