Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release - 26/11/13
, Haider Ghalib Majeed, MD aRiassunto |
Endoscopic carpal tunnel release is a minimally invasive surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, which may be performed under local anesthesia and provides a rapid recovery without increasing the risk of complications. After the initial 3 months, no major difference in results has been found compared with open surgery. The endoscopic technique has a significant learning curve and the cost of the operation is higher than with the conventional open technique. However, the faster rehabilitation and the probability of a faster return to work may lead to a more cost-effective patient path compared with conventional open carpal tunnel release.
