Les gliomes diffus de bas grade sont des tumeurs rares affectant des patients jeunes. Après une croissance initiale lente mais inéluctable, leur évolution vers la malignité met en jeu le pronostic fonctionnel et vital, environ 10ans après le diagnostic. Au cours des 15 dernières années, la prise en charge thérapeutique s’est considérablement modifiée : on est passé d’une surveillance simple à une stratégie pro-active, faisant appel à des combinaisons des différentes modalités thérapeutiques (chirurgie, chimiothérapie, radiothérapie), et ce dans un ordre adapté à chaque patient. Les propositions de traitement faites aux patients devraient être discutées au sein d’une RCP spécialisée dans cette pathologie.

Diffuse low-grade glioma is a rare entity affecting young adults. After an initial period of slow but patent growth, these tumors undergo malignant transformation, causing functional deterioration and ultimately death. Over the last decade, their management has changed considerably: while a wait and see attitude was recommended in the past, the strategy is now pro-active, involving a combination of treatment modalities (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) in a patient-specific order. Treatment options should be offered to patients only after careful discussion in a multidisciplinary meeting specialized in this pathology.
