Meckel’s diverticulum bleeding detected by capsule endoscopy - 17/08/11
| Commentary Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the GI tract and most commonly presents with painless hematochezia, typically from intestinal ulceration, as a consequence of acid production by ectopic gastric mucosa. Diagnosis by capsule endoscopy is, at best, chancy or, at least, nonspecific, and the diagnosis still needs to be made by technetium Tc 99m–pertechnetate scanning. Lawrence J.
